29th May 2011...Nice Selection

I can't post or answer any comments at the moment. I don't know if others amongst you have the same problem with Google....Just in case, a comment on any of my postings, ie one of my numerous misidentifications etc, feel free to email oldfartburgess@hotmail.com ( I don't know him, but I'm told he's a lonely old guy who loves receiving mail )
The 29th was a warm evening with little breeze, and it was the micros that stole the limelight with a garden newby and 5 year ticks. Of the macros, 2 more were added to the garden list, BARRED STRAW and RIBAND WAVE both year firsts.

23rd May 2011...A wee bit blowwy

The Mets 45mph wind forecast was way out, gusts of 60mph at least ripped through my garden.
I put a trap out in the most sheltered part of the garden, hoping for some exotic blow-in, but no luck.
The wind did ease up a bit later last night and 40 plus moths were recorded of 13 species, 21 of which were Heart & Dart.
.......................................
Stretched clouds, caused by the wind made for a good looking sunset.

19th May 2011.....Half of last nights trap yields

After losing all the moths in Skinner #1 to an adventurous Blue Tit, here are Trap #2 results plus potted species from walls.
Six more species for the year and it may have been more but I didn't really have the time to sift through a pile of wings !
The wine side bet has swung my way again. I am 4 or 5 species ahead now, but Captain Trappings is putting up his large gazebo tonight.
He hangs a couple of 1200mm disco u/v lights inside and leaves the two ends open. It's very productive and I could find myself playing catch-up after the weekend.
Anyway, back to the moths.
