Today the moth emerged and hopefully the wind will settle down to a breeze in the next couple of days so I can do some assembling.
With the terrible April conditions, it appears that there are very few males around so one can only hope.....

10th May 2012... The Empress
A few weeks ago I was given a female Emperor Moth pupa by Andy & Melissa Banthorpe, the Bedfordshire County macro moth recorders,
Today the moth emerged and hopefully the wind will settle down to a breeze in the next couple of days so I can do some assembling.
With the terrible April conditions, it appears that there are very few males around so one can only hope.....
Below is the pupa, showing light coloured bands where it has stretched prior to hatching and a picture of the hatched female........
