Overcast, humid and a minimum overnight temperature of 8 deg saw 60 moths of 24 species come to the traps.
The night started off on the right note with Tinea pellionella flying around my computer screen for an easy year tick.
My late afternoon check of the interior sides of the shed windows reaped a reward as Mompha epilobiella was found amongst the many Mompha subbistrigella.

What a catch - no matter how bad a night it is for the rest of the country, your garden always seems to perform!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff.
Bill
You're right Bill, considering my garden is so near the centre of town (Biggleswade) it does tend to punch above its weight. The following two nights were not so good but I have high hopes for a decent haul tonight (10th)
DeleteLucky you, I am hoping for a decent haul tonight....my last effort was just 3 moths all night!
ReplyDeleteSame here mate, if I subtracted the S-s Darts I would have had 10 moths in two traps.
DeleteMind you, one of them was a Small Ranunculus so no complaints. I got a feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night.
