Wine bet :-
Following yesterdays update, last night was a disaster as The Captain and Crew enjoyed a stonking night, 10 new macros for the year.
Luckily I got a couple of year firsts to stay just 1 point ahead ...
....................................................................................................................
17th July 2012. Warm and calm, gusty wind later.
Maybe a site first Drinker will be a good omen for the wine !
New for 2012, micros.....
26 species of micro moth were recorded with a few for ID confirmation.
450 ... Scythropia crataegella *year first
1405 ... Pleuroptya ruralis *year first
1260 ... Cydia splendana *year first
NB. Got that one wrong, thanks to David Shenton and David Manning for the correction...... 1236 ... Pammene fasciana *year first
1036 ... Acleris forsskaleana *year first
Plus a Caloptillia, probably rufipennella and a couple more for the County recorder.
Hopefully the micro tally will be boosted by the ID results from the recorder, who collected a batch of pots from my freezer on Tuesday.
Macros
44 macro species were recorded last night....
2111 ... Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing was the first this year....
...... and a new moth for The Dells garden
1640 ... Drinker
Just a thought, but your C. splendana above is more like Pammene fasciana for me.

David, you are correct. And I have just had confirmation from our micro recorder.
ReplyDeleteBut I always have a stab first (often wrongly !)before actually adding to my records,
Cheers, your comment is very welcome and most helpful in the micro minefield
