11th & 12th July ... Chrysoesthia drurella, mine and adult...Plus new Pug

No traps on tonight, I'm waving the white flag to the weather.
A nice little micro appeared on the patio window this afternoon, before it started to pee it down.
746 Chrysoesthia drurella ... I have noticed some mines on the garden Goosefoot, ( Chenopodium ) but nice to find the adult..........
Well I got the adult right, but the mine is a fly mine !
Cheers Andy...
746 Chrysoesthia drurella mine
746 Chrysoesthia drurella, adult
Last night the temperature dropped to 8 degrees and last July was about the same but not so wet.
Haworth's Pug was recorded, a site first for the garden, but surely overlooked in the past......

No traps tonight, too wet, but a micro drifted past my PC screen and landed on the curtain.
It's an Oegoconia and past gen. dets. have proven to be O. caradjai.
However, this one looks different, the patches are not as brassy as caradjai and it is a little smaller.
My guess is O. quadripuncta....

One more for Mr Manning !
................................................
I seem to be getting more "year first" moths without the traps....
Aphelia paleana (Timothy Tortrix), found in the outside loo.

6th June 2011....Argy bargy, new county micro

Star moth from last nights garden trapping was undoubtedly this Argyresthia cupressella 409b. Originating in Western United States and first noted here in 1997. This is the first VC30 record. Many thanks to county micro recorder David Manning for confirming the ID and the information on the species. A garden first Hawthorn Moth, Scythropia crataegella 0450 ALEIMMA LOEFLINGIANA 1032 caught at 10.32 coincidentally ! EUDONIA MERCURELLA 1344....... year first visitor ELEPHANT HAWK-MOTH 1991.... year first record Caught using the "laid back" method, a Timothy Tortrix.
