Two new macro moths were added to the ever growing garden species list ... Marbled White Spot last night (Sunday 21st).
Almost missed it among the Marble Minors in the egg boxes this morning.

It's always nice to look in the traps and find a new or a year first species for the garden, well not always nice.

This little Tortrix guarantees that a proportion of my Victoria plums will be tenanted by bright pink maggots again later in the year.

16th June 2013 ... Cockroach Moth is back !

My least favourite moth is on the wing. It crashed into my trap last night, blundering its way through the egg boxes, unsettling the contents in the process.
Unfortunately it is the first of hundreds, in fact I recorded 99 of these despicable creatures in one evening in a previous life. On a brighter note, the local sparrows like them for breakfast, so any that are hiding around the trap vicinity ......... Large Yellow Underwing ... year first.

28th April 2011...Royal Wedding

It would have been appropriate to blog a few Royal related moths today, I checked the traps this morning but nothing doing.
How about a Coronet with a few Emeralds, Some White Ermine with a Royal Mantle would have been nice.
The royal coach flanked by Common Footmen, and lots of Waves from the Many Lined streets.
In the evening a possible sighting of a Small Rivulet and a Maidens Blush.
That's enough of that......Last night was windy and wet but I still managed to trap 41 moths of 10 species, with 2 new ticks for The Dells garden.
